Family Safaris

A family safari works best when the itinerary adapts to the children rather than the other way around. We arrange a private vehicle for every family group, which means you set the pace: a shorter morning drive, a longer afternoon by the pool, and no waiting for strangers to finish their photographs.

Kenya is particularly well suited to families. The wildlife is abundant and easy to see, distances between parks are manageable by light aircraft, and the camps that welcome children do so properly, with family tents or interconnecting rooms, child-friendly guides, bush cooking and tracking activities, and staff who are genuinely pleased to see young guests.

We advise against very young children in the Mara during peak migration season, where the days are long and the terrain demanding. For children under six, the private conservancies of Laikipia are often a better choice: shorter drives, more flexibility and an excellent chance of rhino, elephant and giraffe. Combining a conservancy with a few nights on the coast gives families the most balanced holiday.
