Short safaris often fail because they try to do too much. This one does the opposite: four nights in one camp, in one part of the Maasai Mara, with the same guide and the same vehicle throughout. It is remarkable how much more you see when you are not unpacking.
The camp we use sits in a private conservancy adjoining the national reserve, which means off-road driving, walking safaris and night drives are all permitted, and the number of vehicles at any sighting is strictly limited. The reserve itself is a short drive away for migration season.
With four nights you have time to spend a full morning with a single leopard, to return to a kill three times in a day, and to learn the individual animals your guide knows by name. It is the safari we would choose ourselves if we had only five days.
